How Reducing Mental Interference Improves Your Game
While the physical realm (i.e. swing, mechanics, conditioning, etc.) comprises the upper limit at any one time of one's playing potential, it is the mental and emotional realms which determines how closely and consistently we come to reaching that potential.

Performance = Physical - Mental
Performance Interference

Physical potential
is wherever you happen to be, at that moment, in terms of mechanics, conditioning, health, rest, nutrition, etc. You can only play as well as these factors will allow.

Mental interference basically deals with two general areas: focus and emotional stability. When focus and emotional stability are maximized, mental interference approaches zero and we perform up to our physical potential.
