Psychotherapy
Both Mitchell M. Sadar, Ph.D. and Angelika Y. Sadar, M.A. are licensed psychologists who have been practicing psychotherapy for over 25 years. Their background and training includes experience with multiple therapeutic modalities including cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, behavioral, and several others.
The psychotherapeutic approach of the office is based first upon good listening. Listening and learning where each client is; what are their goals, desires, fears, resources, etc.; how do they conceptualize their issues; how do they process change, etc., is an important and critical first step. Once there is agreement on where the client is and where they want to be, an individualized psychotherapeutic approach for each client is devised. Homework assignments are given when appropriate to facilitate the psychotherapeutic process continuing out of the office. Also, community resources are drawn upon when and where appropriate to facilitate further gains. As the process continues, time is taken occasionally to evaluate progress and revise treatment as warranted.
In summary, our approach is based upon the individual. Every person brings their own set of unique resources and issues. While there are certainly elements that people share that must be recognized, it is the individual differences that must be taken into account as much as possible to help each therapeutic experience be as beneficial as possible.
