Our goal is to help people make changes in their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, to better their lives.
Using alternatives to medication, we want to help you to improve your performance in school, relationships, work and sports.
Today's fast paced, demanding and complex society makes it difficult for people to function their best. SPS can help to minimize or eliminate symptoms that interfere with doing your best. We can help with ADHD, sleep problems, depression, and anxiety, and more. Our staff specializes in developing a personalized plan to help children and adults who have problems with behavior, anger, attention, focus and emotional control.
Our relationship begins with an comprehensive evaluation.

The SPS Evaluation
Once the decision is made to come in for an evaulation and a date is set, we will mail a packet that includes an extensive questionaire. It asks you to detail presenting problems, the parts of your history, and parts of your life at present. We ask that you complete it, and bring it with you on the date of your evaluation.
The evaulation itself is a two hour comprehensive session with psychologist Dr. Mitchell Sadar consisting of three main components:
| |
1. General Discussion
Discussion used to build on to the information gathered in the pre-evaulation questionaire, incuding a review of history and discussion of concerns.
2. T.O.V.A (Test of Variables of Attention)
The T.O.V.A is a 22 minute standardized computerized test used to identify attentional problems. The ability to pay attention to a boring, repetitive task is best measured in the first half of the T.O.V.A. while the ability to inhibit oneself is best measured in the second half.
Variables measured T.O.V.A. measures include variability of response time (consistency), response time (milliseconds), commission (impulsivity), errors of omission (inattention), post-commission response times, multiple and anticipatory responses, and an ADHD score, which is a comparison to an age/gender specific ADHD group.
3. Quick QEEG Brain Map
Quick Quantitative EEG Brain Mapping is a completely painless procedure that uses cutting edge electrical sensors to record the electrical activity at 11 channels of the brain. This tool gives us the ability to view the dynamic changes taking place throughout the brain during processing tasks and assist in determining which areas of the brain are fully engaged and processing efficiently.
A Quick QEEG Brain Map aids in a more precise diagnosis of subtle brain dysfunction. It provides information about the functional organization and disorganization of the brain and its normal development. It serves as a basis for identifying variations in brain function that are associated with different types of neurological disorders including Attention Deficit Disorder, Learning Disabilities, Depression, Dementia, Mild Head Injury and Obsessive/Compulsive Disorder. It also assures that the true underlying cause of the problem is addressed. EEG Brain Mapping is FDA approved as a diagnostic tool and presently is the only objective measure for many of these neurologically based disorders. This process is used in select hospitals, clinics and research centers around the world.
At Sadar Psychological and Sports, we use this more objective, accurate and detailed information to create more effective neurodevelopmental training protocols. This brain map provides us a baseline to work from while we retrain the brain. |
After the evaluation, we ask you to come in for a review of the results with psychologist Angelika Sadar. Since very big decisions are sometimes made during this time, in regard to a time commitment in coming for treatment and/or a personal commitment to self improvment, we suggest that spouses, siblings, and both parents join the person evaluated in their one hour review session.
During this time, individualized goals are developed. In general, goals will involve symptom reduction and/or performance enhancement. Once goals are set, a program is designed to facilitate their attainment. Depending on the individual and his/her goals, the program may draw from the field of clinical psychology, sports psychology, neurofeedback, meditation, or other computer-assisted training programs such as Interactive Metronome and EmWave.
